Review – Milk Makeup Blur Liquid Matte Foundation and Dab & Blend Applicator

When I was contacted by Influenster about the Milk Makeup Blur Liquid Matte Foundation, I actually screamed. I love the Milk Makeup brand and I’d already heard so much about the new foundation they were going to be dropping. There may have been happy dancing involved.

Milk Makeup has successfully marketed itself as makeup for the cool girl (or boy) on the go. Most products have dual purposes and don’t require brushes or sponges to apply, so there are a lot of roll-on and stick and tube products. The Blur Liquid Matte Foundation box I received mixed things up a bit by throwing in a Dab & Blend Applicator made of silicon, but because it’s silicon it sticks with the theme: easy, very little mess, easy clean up, grab and go.

The new Blur Liquid Matte Foundation comes in 16 shades, and to make sure I had the right one for me, Milk Makeup sent me two in my ideal shades: Light (with pink undertones) and Golden Light (with yellow undertones). Both work for me because during the summer months I tend to go a bit more olive, but in the winter my undertones are much more pink.

The tubes are 1 oz each and feature a dispenser that really blows my mind (and makes me wonder why EVERYONE doesn’t do this). The dispenser controls the amount of product you use and limits the amount of air that enters the bottle. This is ideal because it won’t dry out your foundation or make it cakey. Plus, you use less product this way because you’re not going to accidentally pour out too much.

The Dab & Blend Applicator is light and soft, but also has enough surface firmness to spread product evenly. I love the teardrop shape and the way it feels. Plus, it’s easy to clean. Again, they stuck with their theme: easy, fast, good to go.

After properly priming and prepping my skin, I added a small dab of foundation to the smallest end of the applicator and began to smear it on. Out of the starting gate I noticed it looked streaky. This was worrisome, but I realized the problem was that I was running the applicator across my skin, when the name itself implies dabbing. So, that’s what I did: I dabbed.

Here is where I started to really appreciate the tool and the foundation. Four small dabs gave me full coverage and an even complexion. I was pleasantly surprised because I chose to try it on a day when my hormones were causing a breakout. The foundation covered my breakout without concealer. Interesting…

After applying my foundation I carried on with the rest of my face, including concealer, setting powder, bronzer, blush, highlight, and setting spray. Below I’m showing you how I looked 5 minutes after I finished my makeup and 5 hours later.

The foundation holds up. It just holds up! It dries to a creamy matte and feels great. I gravitate towards dry skin so matte foundations always terrify me, but this one was not at all drying, especially since I prepped my skin with BB cream and primer before I started.

Overall, the Milk Makeup Blur Liquid Matte Foundation gets a solid HELL YEAH from me. At $40 per tube this stuff is on the costly side, but sometimes you get what you pay for. The formula is superb, it gives full coverage, and a little goes a LONG way. Worth the price tag, if you ask me.

You can find Milk Makeup products on,, and, or in Sephora and Urban Outfitters brick and mortar stores. Check this stuff out. You won’t be disappointed.
