I Am Not A Perfect Pumpkin

I am not a perfect pumpkin

I’m not round nor smooth nor sleek

My shell is full of ridges

Bumps and knots that run quite deep

My size is far too big

Or far too small to fit your needs

You will overlook my greatness

Even though I’m full of seeds

Deep inside I have the promise

Of new and exciting dreams

I am just as great as others

Though I am not what I may seem

I am not your perfect pumpkin

Though I am perfect to me

If you judge my imperfections

Then you judge me wrongfully

For I am not a perfect pumpkin

And I have never tried to be

I am filled with hope and promise

Even if you do not see
